Michael T. Avara
Michael T. Avara is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Horizon Lines, Inc. He is responsible for the accounting, finance, treasury, risk management and investor relations functions of the company. Previously, Mr. Avara served as Vice President, Investor Relations and Treasurer of Horizon Lines. Prior to rejoining Horizon Lines in March 2004, Mr. Avara spent 20 years in various accounting and finance functions at CSX Corporation and its subsidiaries, including seven years with the predecessor companies CSX Lines and its subsidiaries, including Horizon Lines and Sea-Land Service, Inc. Mr. Avara also spent three years in public accounting with Coopers & Lybrand. Mr. Avara received both a MBA in Finance and BA in Accounting from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland.
