PUERTO RICO SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Tropical Storm Irene – Update 11
Dear Valued Customer:
After causing severe damage to coastal areas in North Carolina, Irene has been downgraded to Tropical Storm status. As of 11:00 PM this morning, TS Irene was centered near Danbury, CT. Irene is moving North-Northeast at 26MPH and maximum sustained winds are at 60MPH.
Our gates in Elizabeth, NJ are scheduled to open at 08:00 AM tomorrow, Monday the 29th, and initial reports are that there was negligible damage in the terminal and electrical service remains intact.
We have similarly been monitoring rail connections in the Northeast due to the storm. CSX and Norfolk Southern have suspended some East Coast services over the weekend and are anticipated to reopen Monday assuming no damage has occurred. We do not expect any rail loads moving with Horizon Lines to be affected by these suspensions this week or next.
Service updates as follows:
JAX–SJU Horizon Navigator voyage NV487S departed Jacksonville as anticipated and we expect to start cargo at 7:00PM in San Juan Monday at 07:00 PM. Gate hours will be extended till 9:00 PM in San Juan for all dispatch and receiving activities to mitigate effects of the storm delay.
ELZ-SJU Horizon Trader voyage TO438S departed Elizabeth as scheduled and encountered heavy weather shortly after departure. As a result, the Trader is expected to be delayed on arrival to San Juan on Tuesday August 29th. At this time, we anticipate starting cargo at 1:00 PM Tuesday.
SJU-JAX Horizon Producer voyage PD671N departed San Juan as scheduled and is expected to make an on-time arrival in Jacksonville Tuesday at 07:00 AM.
