PUERTO RICO SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Hurricane Irene – Update 3
Dear Valued Customer:
The National Hurricane Center has identified Hurricane Irene as a Category I storm and the first hurricane of the 2011 season. As of 05:00AM this morning, the center of the storm was located 25 miles west of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The storm is on a West-Northwest path at 12MPH and maximum sustained winds are at 75MPH.
Locally, there are power outages and traffic lights out in the San Juan area.
The San Juan Harbor remains closed to all vessel traffic by the US Coast Guard, and condition ZULU remains in effect.
As a result of this remaining closure, Horizon Trader voyage TO437S will be further delayed on arrival to San Juan. At this time, our “best case” cargo start time tomorrow will be at 2:00PM. This estimate is dependent on early re-opening of the port by the US Coast Guard.
Horizon Lines is aware of the effects that storm delays have on our customers’ operations and will make every reasonable effort to ensure effects from this delay are minimized. We will continue to provide timely and accurate updates on the progress of this storm.
